Instructors

Each instructor as a professional filmmaker brings a lifetime of unique experiences and values to our students to Cinema Arts Tech.

 

JAMES KELLY DURGIN

James has worked on well over 200 films in his long-lasting career. Mr. Durgin is still actively working as a Script Supervisor on projects. He insists that "Part of staying up-to-date is to keep continue working with all of the latest technologies!” Mr. Durgin has worked as Script Supervisor on shows employing HD and Digital formats and one of his recent credits was working as a Script Supervisor on a Red Camera show in May of 2008, his second Red Camera shoot this year.

With years of production management experience under his belt, James is also scheduled to produce a theatrical feature film later this year with a budget of well over 20 million dollars. He still constructs film budgets and shooting schedules for producers every year as he got his start n the business a long time ago. James has also contributed to many books including Film Finance And Distribution, Cullen Chambers’ The Movie Extras Guidebook, and Skip Press’ Film Writers Encyclopedia, An Encyclopedia of Film and Television.

TOM JOYNER

As a Directors Guild of America council member and former vice president of production for a worldwide picture completion bond company, Jim brings his depth and breath of experience to CAT.

Tom has also served as vice president of feature productions for Warner Bros. as well as executive production manager for Walt Disney Pictures. Mr. Joyner’s production management credits include the box office sensations Predator 2, Poltergeist II, The Other Side, The Blues Brothers, Starman, Against All Odds, Tender Mercies, More American Graffiti, And Jaws 2.

Mr. Joyner’s assistant director credits include the popular hits Any Which Way You Can with Clint Eastwood, and Jaws and The Sugarland Express with Steven Spielberg. He also co-produced Predator 2.

CLEVE LANDSBERG

A production manager on Bruce Almighty, Cleve has produced many films such as Dennis The Menace, The District, and Weekend At Bernie's.

He is currently chairman of the Directors Guild of America Western Committee of Assistant Directors, Unit Production Managers and Technical Coordinators and was on the DGA negotiating committee when the current agreement with the motion picture producers was successfully signed within a week’s time.

D. SCOTT EASTON

Credits include associate producer and UPM on Gods and Generals, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, and Steven Spielberg's Deep Impact.

Scott’s Unit Production Manager credits include Stuart Little, Lost World - Jurassic Park, Up Close and Personal, and Adams Family Values.

RANDY TURROW

Randy holds his tenure as president of the mentorship program for the Directors Guild of America and is a member of their Visual Effects/Digital Technology Committee. He has been a producer, production manager and assistant director of many films and most recently produced Man in the Chair, starring Christopher Plummer.

KIM KURUMADA

Kim’s recent past includes being the chairman of the DGA AD/UPM Council. His credits include: John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars, 15 Minutes, Swing Vote, Vampires, Switchback, Weapons of Mass Distraction, House Arrest , Undercover Blues, Life Stinks, Problem Child 2, Class Action , Solar Crisis , and Perfect (1985).
